Saghmosavank Monastery
Saghmosavank monastery was founded in 13c. It’s one of the most important monuments of medieval Armenia. It is well known by the awesome view to Kasakh canyon.
Hovhannavank Monastery
The oldest building is the church of St. Karapet (St. John the Baptist) built at the beginning of 4c. by St. Gregory the Enlightener, who baptized Armenia into the world’s first Christian nation. In that church, the power of St. John the Baptist is stored. The main church of the monastery was built in 13c. Interior of the Cathedral is well decorated. The most important bas-relief is the scene of Wise and Foolish Virgins (Matthew 25:1-13). Under the monastery, there is a big cave, used as a secret passage. At the monastery, you will enjoy an amazing view of Kasakh canyon.
Ruins of Ushi Monastery
Ushi St. Sargis monastery was founded in 5c. by the great linguist, scientist and philosopher, St. Mesrop Mashtots, the creator of the Armenian alphabet (405y.), who buried there the power of St. Sargis. However, the main part of the monastery was built in 13c. At the monastery, you will enjoy a beautiful view of Aragatsotn valley.
Amberd Fortress
Amberd fortress was built from 7 to 13cc. It is one of the biggest fortresses and one of the high-mountain attractions of Armenia. Located at 2300m on the slope of Aragats mountain.
Lake Kari (Kari Lich)
Lake Kari or Kari Lich (stone lake) located on the slope of Aragats Mountain, under the South Peak, at the altitude of 3207m.
Tegher Monastery
Tegher monastery was founded in 13c. Located on the slope of Aragats Mountain, at the altitude of 1700m. It’s one of the most important monasteries of medieval Armenia. At the monastery, you will enjoy a beautiful view of Aragatsotn valley and Ararat mountain.
Aghdzk, Arshakid Kings Mausoleum
Arshakid king dynasty was one of 4 glorious dynasties of Armenian Kingdom. Aghdzk (Aghdsk) mausoleum was built in 4-5cc. and hold royal remains.
Oshakan, St. Mesrop Mashtots Mausoleum
Oshakan Cathedral was built in the burial place of Saint Mesrop Mashtots, the creator of the Armenian alphabet (405y.). Inside the church, you can visit the tomb of St. Mashtots. In the courtyard of the church, there are beautiful 36 khachkars (cross-stones) in the form of Armenian letters.
